Formulation and characterization of new materials from products, by-products and industrial waste

Opigeo offers two types of services: first of all, the formulation and study of the commercial use of new materials made by industrial by-products or secondary raw materials. Materials that include hydraulic binders alternative to Portland cement, mineral glues, inorganic foams and refractory and fireproof materials. The study of the commercial use can reach up to the industrialization of the production of manufactured goods based on these materials.

Analysis and optimization of industrial processes and treatments for inorganic materials

Opigeo also offers analysis for the optimization of its customers’ industrial processes, in order to reduce defects and waste, facilitate reuse and valorize by-products or reduce waste production. This optimization involves the study of process operations, the improvement of the reactivity of raw materials and the flow and sliding properties of intermediates and semi-finished mineral pastes.

The industries that generate by-products potentially useful for the purposes mentioned above are mainly steel industry, foundries, gypsum and plasterboard production industry, ceramic industry and mining industry (marble, granite, basalt, …).

 

In addition to these activities, Opigeo also provides support for the development of processes for the mineral material treatment industries, as well as for the ceramic and chemical industries in the activities of CO22 storage in mineral and/or polymeric materials.
The proposed solutions are then subjected to the sfunctional and regulatory tests necessary for the transition to the industrial production scale to commercialization. The interpretation of these analyses are the basic rules on which the process development and optimization of material formulations requested by customers are carried out.
