Opigeo joined the REMHub Kickoff December 2024

This December, Opigeo joined the kickoff meeting of the REMHub (Rare Earth and Magnets Hub for a resilient Europe) project, a two-day event (4-5 December) in Helsinki that kicked off the collaboration on the development of resilience in the rare earth element (REE) and permanent magnet value chains in the EU.
The project brought together 24 partners, including research institutes, industrial leaders and technology innovators, from six European countries, Estonia, Ireland, Italy, Slovenia, Spain and Finland. This collaboration covers the entire value chain of rare earths, from mining exploration, to mineral processing and refining, to the production of metals and magnets, as well as recycling.
The event highlighted the need for greater collaboration to address challenges such as resource dependency and environmental sustainability, which are special issues in the REE sector. Participants engaged in practical discussions, from improving traceability in the value chain to exploring innovative ways to engage stakeholders.

A focus regarded the importance of effective teamwork. The meeting was a valuable opportunity for partners to exchange ideas on how to create streamlined workflows and transparent communication. The focus on cross-border cooperation underlined REMHub’s role in fostering resilience in the REE value chain in Europe.

The meeting concluded with a clear roadmap for the next steps. From stakeholder engagement to advancing innovative technologies, REMHub will bring its first milestones in the coming months.
